Comptoir Sud Pacifique has regained its splendour thanks to Valerie Pianelli-Guichard, an entrepreneur who defends the values of independent French perfumery and who took over the business 7 years ago. The new fragrance “Rhum & Tabac” is exceeding the historical sales of this House, founded 40 years ago. Now, in this month of December, the perfumery sets up shop in Saint-Germain-des-Prés, at 76, rue de Seine. Following the one in rue Saint-Roch, this second store brings all the know-how of the expert in raw materials to the Rive Gauche, offering a contemporary vision of French perfumery. Of the 30 proposed fragrances, Vétyver Haïti and Aqua Motu particularly drew our attention, two classics that are in strong demand in Paris but also in Europe, the Middle East and the United States. When taking the time to explore the different categories: “Eaux de Voyage”, “Floraux”, “Orientals”, “Gourmands”, the “Hesperides”, the “Boisés” or the “Marins” you realise that there is still a beautiful niche in the market for a family business and traditional “pleasure” perfumery, alongside the behemoths of the industry.
