Rock the Kasbah

The furniture and decorative accessories created by Philippe Xerri bring an ethnic touch to our urban interiors.

Olive wood, palm fibre, branches, kilim, linen: these are the ingredients of the confident style of Rock the Kasbah, the furniture brand created by Philippe Xerri in 2011 in Tunis. The former Parisian, who fell in love with this city at the crossroads of civilisations, says he works on collective memory and likes to go back to “things of a life-long nature”. He is fond of raw, clean materials and never tires of the richness of Mediterranean craftsmanship (Tunisia, Malta, the Spanish islands, the south of France…) which he reboots with a pinch of rock’n’roll. The man loves mixtures and many restaurants and hotels are crazy about his ethnic decorations, made by 80 people working in his workshop in La Soukra. In private households, whether in a Haussmannian apartment or in a country house, Rock the Kasbah brings a warm and soothing Mediterranean atmosphere. Philippe Xerri is also a follower of the principles of feng shui, the age-old Chinese art of harmonising the energies of a place in order to promote the health, well-being and prosperity of its occupants. Each collection is designed with this aim in mind: placing the right elements in the right places. This spring, salt and its whiteness are the focus of Philippe’s work. Salt that purifies, in response to the pandemic, and spreads its whiteness on the world…
